Dedicated to English manufacturing and creating designs with longevity, the importance of home remains at the heart of the business

About Tori Murphy

Established in 2012

Tori Murphy is an English textile brand dedicated to creating thoughtful, timeless and sustainable products for the modern family home.  Rooted in designer/founder Tori’s contemporary approach to pattern and commitment to English craftsmanship, fabric is woven in Lancashire, washed in the Yorkshire Dales and made up to product in Nottingham. Pared back, elegant, endlessly versatile and eminently livable-with, Tori Murphy is the essence of relaxed English style, comfort and tradition.

At boarding school from the age of eight, Tori spent long summers sailing, swimming and exploring bracing West Cork beaches.  “Blankets were essential, whether shading from the sun or for keeping warm,” she explains. “I would take the blankets to school still smelling of the sea and they reminded me daily of my family and friends back home. The feeling of being enveloped by love left a deep impression and marked the beginning of my passion for textiles.”

After graduating from the Royal College of Art, Tori worked in Milan designing prints for clients including DKNY, Fendi and Christian Dior. Experiencing the factory floor for the first time, Tori developed a sound understanding of textile production.   She returned home, determined to combine her love of pattern design and newfound passion for manufacturing with her early and unwavering commitment to the English textile industry.  With a firm belief and plenty of perseverance, she succeeded in finding local weavers, finishers and machinists willing to support the fledgling business.

"I would take the blankets to school still smelling of the sea..."

From her first run of twelve metres of woven merino wool, Tori produced a capsule collection of throws and cushions.  Within a year, Tori Murphy was creating exclusive products for British brands including TOAST and Jo Malone and was stocked in Heal’s, Selfridges, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, The Conran Shop and Daylesford Organic. With an increasing focus on fabric by the metre, Tori Murphy exhibited at Decorex in 2019, collaborating with George Smith and winning two awards, including Best Fabric Collection.

Three daughters have arrived since the business started, shining a stronger light on the importance of family and home. The product range has evolved to fifteen categories,  from  kitchen textiles to quilted baskets and eiderdowns, with Tori and her team working conscientiously to build an authentic and creative source of English homewares. Relaxed yet purposeful, luxurious yet understated, Tori Murphy’s reputation steadily grows as the go-to brand for English fabrics and homewares, designed and manufactured with character and integrity.
